I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that so many people in the field want to believe the labs will be especially other-focused or altruistic. Maybe that made sense somewhat when these companies were new but it's hard to understand given (a) their incentive structures now and (b) the demonstrations of how they're actually making decisions around risk given those incentives.
